The Strange Similarity of Inequalities in America and Israel
Inequality against various communities around the world, including Palestinian citizens of the Israeli regime and Black Americans, is perpetuated by their governments. Below, inequality among the two mentioned societies, where ethnic and racial factors play a significant role, is described in terms of education, imprisonment, and poverty. It should be noted that the Palestinians in question in this comparison are those who hold Israeli citizenship, not the Palestinians living in the occupied territories of the West Bank and Gaza.
Wealth Inequality

Income Inequality
African Americans and Palestinian citizens of the Israeli regime earn, on average, one-quarter less in annual income than White Americans and Israeli Jews. For White Americans, this amount is $40,000, while for African Americans it is $30,000. 3 Likewise, in the Israeli regime, the annual income of Palestinian citizens is $18,000, compared to $26,000 for Jews.4
Education Inequality
The likelihood that Black Americans and Palestinian citizens of Israel will access university education is one-third less than that of white Americans and Israeli Jews. In America, 22% of Blacks and 36% of whites are educated. 5 In the Israeli regime, 26% of Palestinians and 41% of Jews are educated. 6 The deprivation of the Bedouin Palestinian community from their rights by the Israeli regime has been a significant factor in the high dropout rate among Palestinians in the occupied territories.

Inequality in Sentencing to Imprisonment
If Black Americans and Palestinian citizens of the Israeli regime commit the same crime that white Americans and Israeli Jews have committed, they will be behind bars twice as much as them. On average, white American criminals spend 55 months and Black criminals in this country spend 90 months in prison.7 This amount for Israeli Jewish criminals is 9.5 months and for Palestinian citizens of the Israeli regime, 14 months.8 Of course, the crime in these statistics refers only to criminal offenses, not political crimes. Imprisoning individuals for political crimes has a long and prominent history in the Israeli regime.
In the table below, the mentioned statistics on discrimination in American and Palestinian communities are summarized:
Discriminatory Status of American and Palestinian Communities in Various Dimensions
America | Israeli Regime
White Citizens | Black Citizens | Palestinian Citizens | Jewish Citizens
Various Dimensions | Number of Poor People (in percent) | 9 | 24 | 47 | 14 |
Average Income (in dollars) | 40,000 | 30,000 | 18,000 | 26,000
Number of Educated People (in percent) | 36 | 22 | 26 | 41
Average Sentencing to Imprisonment (in months) | 55 | 90 | 14 | 9.5 |
As stated above, there is clear discrimination in the social and economic status of U.S. citizens and individuals holding citizenship of the Israeli regime, which vividly exposes the systemic inequality in these two states. Moreover, the discriminatory situation faced by Palestinians holding Israeli citizenship makes it evident how much greater the injustice endured by Palestinians who are not Israeli citizens (the people of Gaza and the West Bank) must be.
